Time

Zambia is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

Personal Safety

Zambia society is less affluent than Western society and it is best never to make an ostentatious show of wealth. Though great efforts have been made by the authorities there are still, like in any country in the world, some areas in towns best avoided at night. It is unwise to carry large amounts of cash around with you when exploring any town. It would also be prudent to leave any expensive items of jewellery at home. The Zambia police are generally friendly and helpful to tourists.
